"Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky"
Sounds familiar... Yup, A WHOLE NEW WORLD. That is the exact description how I felt while I was up in the sky. Instead of a magic carpet, it was an ultralight aircraft.
I was looking for something different to do for our next adventure. Searching the web for articles, blogs, videos for what to do, I run across this flying thing. Of course almost every one of us when we were a child dream of flying in the air. Well maybe this should I say personally to me fulfilling a childhood dream.
After researching on how to get there and what to expect, time to set our foot to go there. I initially made a call to the "Angeles Flying Club" so as to be sure we are accommodated and that it is not close during our time of visit. Schedule is 3:30 pm, for the reason that to avoid the scorching heat of the sun.
Time to meet our group. me, my wife Donna, my workmate Francis and his girlfriend Kay.
The venue is quite far from the town proper of Mabalacat, Pampanga. I have a GPS but there are times it is unreliable and I don't want to spoil our adventure by getting lost so better bring and print a map for direction from their website. On our way, there are plenty of signbaords going to the vicinity, but thinking ahead, there are no signboards on how to get back going to NLEX.
Upon arrival to the venue, we went to their office and was warmly greeted by their staff. We signed a waiver then paid. Good thing they are accepting credit card for payment. For 10 minutes, we paid 1,848 pesos each. This rates are for none members. But with that payment, you get a free one day membership where you can use their swimming pool and cottage for free. After settling everything we went in the open field in front of the hangar. We were met there by our experienced pilot.
Of course, time for taking pictures first before starting the flying adventure. I had set-up an action camera on the rear side of the plane. After receiving some brief instructions, seat belts fasten and testing our communication device, we are ready for take off!!!
Excitement and fear run on my body while gaining speed for take off. But as we climb altitude, the feeling is indescribable, I felt like my mind cleared up for any worries in my life while seeing the aerial view of the surroundings (Mt. Arayat, and the surrounding towns) on an open structure aircraft We cruised in the sky at an altitude of 4,500 feet at the speed of 80 miles per hour.
I still managed to take a selfie...
Check out the video how it is like flying this aircraft. The experienced pilot gave me the basics and even gave me a chance on how to control the aircraft; how to go to the left, right, climb up and drop down. What a experience, this 10 minutes adventure is sure worth it. That 10 minutes feels like so long while up in the sky.
Finally, the aircraft landed smoothly and safely. The pilot did the controls for landing then after that, he gave me the control again to go to the designated point. Flying is a very exciting adventure, and the most memorable in it is I got a chance to have a feel on how to control an aircraft.
